A multi-phased project, Krech, O’Brien, Mueller & Associates began with site and building planning for an unadorned and affordable church with a sanctuary/fellowship hall and a two story educational and administrative wing and 20,000 square feet of additional space for the ministry.  The next phase includes a new Sanctuary, Narthex, Hearth Room, Nursery, Youth Ministry areas, new and remodeled support areas, a redefined Entry and handicap accessibility throughout three stories.  The project will also include new parking, landscaping, and provide for future development of the Kitchen, Classrooms, Offices and Fellowship areas of the church with an ultimate goal of maximizing the use of the project site.

The design aims at striking a balance between the sensory process of preparing one for sacred worship in an intimate sanctuary, with the simplicity of the existing church and a limited budget.  The new entry elevation is one of the cross, anchored vertically to heaven via a sky-lit tower resting on a stone base, with the elongated plan reaching horizontally into the community.  In addition to connecting the building levels vertically, the tower marks the church in the community and the entry to the building.  When it is viewed with the two adjacent vertical forms, (which recall the old entryway), the three symbolize the crosses of Golgotha, and Jesus’ crucifixion.
